CMF Zimbabwe appeal
This appeal is now closed.
Thank you to all who have given generously to CMF's appeal to assist CMF Zimbabwe in their response to the cholera epidemic. £30,397 was raised in three months a fantastic response. Our giving has not only bought supplies but has sent a huge message of support to the team there. One of the doctors said In places like Zimbabwe it's possible to feel abandoned, but your partnership has shown us that we are not alone and we have been overwhelmed by your support.
As at 17 March '09, the cumulative number of cholera cases since August 2008 is 91 164, with 4 037 deaths, but the epidemic is at last starting to slow down. The WHO reports a continued decline in cholera cases reported from all affected districts, except Harare and Chitungwiza, where an increase in cases is attributed to an interruption in water supply. In addition WHO has reported a reduction of 58% and 63% in cases and deaths respectively during week ending 20 March '09 compared to the previous week.
Our appeal is closed but those who wish to continue giving support to Zimbabwe can do so through the Archbishops' Appeal.
