With all the rain most of us have had in August, it was perfect (!) weather for the
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 9 August. Students from seven medical schools joined with CMF staff to walk 25 miles up hill and down dale in the pouring rain, but we did it, and raised around £5,000 in the process for our national student conference! Have a look at some of the
student websites to see what they got up to – there's still time to donate if you'd like!
Could you be the CMF rep on the
BMA Medical Students' Committee? We've been co-opted on this year but haven't yet been able to find a student to represent us, as our 'usual suspects' are either graduating or already on the committee representing their medical schools! If you think you'd like to do this,
email me to discuss it further. The main commitment is the four committee days each year and the first training day and committee are on 11 and 12 September – so get in touch as soon as you can!
Yesterday we interviewed for the next chair of our
National Students' Committee, to succeed Avril Stirzaker after her great two years in the job. I'm delighted to announce that Lloyd Thompson from Edinburgh has been appointed – you'll hear more from him before long!
Publicity will soon be available for our
National Students' Conference on 13-15 February. 'Living in the Light of Tomorrow' will feature Bible addresses from Revelation by Steve Brady of Moorlands Bible College, and a conference address on '
Sex and the Maker's Instructions' by the CMF chairman, Trevor Stammers. There'll be the usual great range of seminars, and a packed programme. Look out for brochures and plan to be there!
Finally, do be in
prayer for
Freshers' Events up and down the country, as new students prepare to come to medical school. You'll all remember what a crucial time it was in your own lives, and the opportunities for establishing yourself as a Christian, or folding under the pressure of student life!
Grace and peace
