Euthanasia

Euthanasia has been defined and used in many ways. In its basic form it means 'good-death', but in current debate 'euthanasia' refers to the intentional killing of a person because of suffering or illness endured by the person. A euthanasia Bill is currently under discussion in the UKs House of Lords (January 2005). These articles discuss the various aspects of euthanasia: the spiritual, ethical and societal implications of euthanasia and the Christian response.
Getting Involved: Write to your MP

Please write to your MP and encourage him/her to sign Early Day Motion 2485 which was tabled in the House of Commons on 4 July 2006.

The text of EDM 2485 can be found online at edmi.parliament.uk/edmi/. It is a statement welcoming the BMAs change to a position of opposition of assisted dying and highlighting the agreement between this and other medical organisations.

Early Day Motions do not usually go anywhere but they are an important way of gauging and raising support and educating MPs.

To write to your MP is very very simple - and will take you about 5 minutes - go to www.upmystreet.com/commons/l/ and fill in your postcode and this will bring up a page from where you can email your MP directly.
