Stem Cells

Stem cells have been the subject of much controversy in recent years. Supporters of stem cell research promise successful therapies in the future. Opponents are concerned about the ethics of using embryonic stem cells for research - such stem cells inherently require the destruction of human embryos. Adult stem cells - which do not involve embryo destruction - are another option for research, and have great potential for successful therapies in the future. The items here explore some of these issues, looking at both the factual evidence and the ethics of research using stem cells.
