Act4Africa

Act4Africa is a UK charity working in Uganda to reduce poverty through the delivery of health education and gender equality programmes. We work closely with busy general hospitals in Uganda and arrange tailor-made medical elective trips for medical, nursing and midwifery students. Students also have the opportunity for community work at our health and education centre in rural Mayuge, eastern Uganda. We also arrange placements for nurses, midwives and qualified doctors. As Act4Africa is a registered UK charity, students can fundraise to cover the costs of their elective and be assured that any surplus funds will go directly into the communities in which they will be working.

Mission Direct works with partners all over the world to bring practical help, hope and change to the lives of many men, women and children.

Currently supporting projects in 11 countries, we open the door to anyone wanting the life-changing experience of going on a short-term mission trip. From Africa to Asia, South America to the Caribbean and on to Europe, our projects support a wide range of need - from disabled children marginalized by their communities, homes for street boys living hand-to-mouth each day, and saving women out of FMG; to building schools for children with no access to education and hospitals for people without sufficient healthcare.

A typical trip with us will support our partner projects in the morning (usually a build - though no qualification necessary!) followed by visits to help at other local community projects. Towards the end of the trip, you'll get the opportunity to take some well-deserved R&R - exploring local wonders, witnessing incredible wildlife, trekking through rainforest or laying on the beach. We will coordinate every aspect of your trip for you, from flights, visas and transport to accommodation, food and transfers.

Your two-week mission trip will change the lives of many forever - including your own.

Primary care clinics situated in remote riverine area of the Niger Delta, very low resource area with enormous health needs. We welcome expert input in the shape of cataract surgeons for 3-4 day camps and surgeons happy to undertake 3-4 days hernia camps, and optometrists able to teach and support our community eye program and glasses production program.

We welcome interest from clinicians who would like to give a few hours of their time in the UK to make short teaching videos as much of our training is via e-learning.

Our mission is to use medicine to open doors for direct evangelism in areas where the Gospel is either unheard or corrupted with unbiblical doctrine ( traditional beliefs/prosperity gospel teaching etc).

Vine Trust is an international interdenominational volunteering charity which seeks to enable volunteers to make a real and significant difference to some of the poorest children and communities in the world. We welcome people from all backgrounds who share our ethos of caring and our belief that whilst we can't help everyone we can all help someone.

Since 2001 our Peru Medical Programme has provided a healthcare service for over 150,000 patients annually, with further expansion planned. In 2015 we established a medical project in Tanzania, replicating the model of our Peru Programme on Lake Victoria. In the Lake's Tanzanian waters alone there are over 150 island communities, perhaps as many as 500,000 people without access to healthcare.

We invite clinicians to join one of our medical expeditions to Peru or Tanzania to serve on board one of our two medical ships. Medical Teams are made up of 4-8 volunteers who join the permanent staff on board one of our fully equipped floating medical centres for a two-week working expedition. We need doctors, nurses, dentists, dental nurses, optometrists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to utilise their medical skills in a new way.

Our Peruvian medical colleagues are also willing to sign off on a two-week 'experience' on the Amazon Hope. Many medical and dental students use this as their medical elective.
