Further applications for bursaries or for people who need visas will no longer be accepted. However, we will still consider other applications, as long as applicants are prepared to be put on a waiting list.

Aims

The International Medical Student Conference is a fantastic opportunity, designed to equip and enthuse delegates for leadership among Christian medical students in their own country. The programme is rich in bible teaching, seminars, and fellowship; focusing on principles of Godly leadership, and encouraging delegates to live faithfully as Christians in Medicine.

The IMSC also includes attendance at CMF's National Students Conference, held in Derbyshire (8-10th February 2013).

Though the conference is designed for students, if you have qualified but are actively involved in student ministry then you would be welcome to apply. Alternatively CMF hold two postgraduate conferences each year to which International colleagues are warmly invited; the Junior Doctors Conference in October and Graduates conference in April – please see our website for more information.

Please note, the conference will be conducted in English, and we cannot guarantee that there will be any formal translation. Therefore all delegates must have sufficient English to attend talks and enter into discussions in English without a translator.

This is what a student from last year's conference had to say…

“I loved the conference; it has been a blessing since the moment I arrived. It made me reflect about what means to be a Christian doctor and it gave me the opportunity to talk to amazing Christian doctors and see how they live their faith and their practice. Definitely it challenged me to be a better doctor, to be more open about my faith and to build my national CMF. IMSC renewed my vision for our CMF and it also made me think broader than before. It remembered me that God is God and even if we are a few, He can use us to encourage more Christian doctors to join CMF and also to reach more doctors for Christ. I realize I have to pay more attention to students, spend more time with junior doctors and encourage all of them to follow Christ and share Him with our patients and colleagues.”

Cost:

The cost of the conference is £100. This includes attendance at the International Medical Students conference in London (4th-8th February), and the National Students conference in Derbyshire (8-10th February) and all accommodation, food and transport once arrived. The actual cost to CMF is about £250 per delegate, and donations from delegates or their national organisations to cover these costs would be very gratefully received.

Delegates are responsible for organising and funding their return travel to and from the UK and Visa applications (if applicable). For more details, please refer to the General Information section.

There is a limited amount of financial assistance available. If you are unable to pay, please fill in and submit the Bursaries application form. No financial assistance will be given without submitting this form, which must be submitted by the application deadline: 21st October 2012.

Please note that payment is only required after you have been formally invited.

Deadlines:

ALL applications, including both references (see below) must be received before midnight on 21st October 2012.

If you are making an application for a bursary, this must also be submitted by this date, along with your application form and two references. Bursary applications will not be considered after this date.

Only if there are spare places or if people drop out after this date, would we be able to consider new applications after this date.

Places are limited, therefore attendance at the conference is not guaranteed. Places will be limited to 1-2 students per country. Preference will be given to student leaders, from Eurasian countries supported by references.

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application on the deadline after which all applications and references will be reviewed individually. You will then be contacted by email within two weeks of the deadline to confirm whether you have been offered a place.
