CMF asks 'seven deadly questions'

Published: 16th August 2002

CMF will this Autumn ask 'Seven Deadly Questions'. The Questions are a key part of its Confident Christianity training courses, which begin again in October and which enable students to evangelise better - both on and off campus.

The Seven Deadly Questions are the most common queries put to anyone seeking to share their Christian faith. They include:

  • Is Jesus the only way to God?
  • Why do the innocent suffer? and
  • Isn't the Bible full of errors?

Confident Christianity starts a nationwide tour* on 26 October in Belfast, finishing on 15 March 2003 in Cardiff. Each day-long conference lasts from 10am to 5pm.

CMF General Secretary Peter Saunders said: 'Many Christian students find it difficult to share the Gospel with their friends. They feel themselves insufficiently skilled in evangelism, worry about difficult questions they might face or spend time on peripheral issues instead of what is really important.'

Confident Christianity uses the Book of Acts as its model for sharing the Gospel. The apostolic sermons show the essentials of good presentation; they also show how the disciples were happy to dialogue with unbelievers in an effective way.

The students are first given two minutes to share the Gospel with their friends in role play. The course then shows them how to deal, quickly and easily, with the Seven Deadly Questions after a small amount of preparation. Finally, participants undertake a series of role playing models with the trainers to sharpen their skills.

Added Peter Saunders: 'Confident Christianity works. Since the courses began in 1989 thousands of Christian students have taken part and almost without exception they emerge from the day better able and far more confident to undertake the Great Commission.'
