CMF enlists PR agency to impact media

Published: 24th May 2004

CMF this week announced that it has hired Public Relations agency, EA Media Consultancy, as part of a plan to take a more strategic approach to media relations.

At the centre of this focused approach will be a campaign to raise public awareness of the issues relating to many ‘start of life’ and ‘end of life’ matters, such as embryonic and stem cell research, human cloning, assisted dying and gender recognition. CMF aims to present a balanced medical opinion as well as promote a Christian voice within the minefield of issues that the medical world is in the process of addressing.

The strategic PR campaign will be co-ordinated by EA Media Consultancy and will enable CMF to confront topical issues inmedicine, both in the national and medical trade media more effectively.

Peter Saunders, General Secretary of CMF, said; “At this time when many established ethical practices are up for debate it is imperative that a Christian voice and perspective is heard. By employing EA Media Consultancy we hope to challenge both the government and the medical authorities, to ensure the public is well informed and that safer alternative treatments are considered.”

With a membership of over 5,000 doctors on the UK, CMF hopes its heightened profile will increase awareness of the organisation and will influence the relevant bodies to recognise the Christian perspective in their decision making.

Peter Saunders concluded, “Many of the issues society is currently considering are fundamental to human life, and by working with EA Media Consultancy we will ensure that the voices of thousands of doctors and healthcare professionals which CMF represents can be heard.”
