NHS England recently launched a 30 day public consultation on a number of new product proposals for specialised services, including the prescribing of cross-sex hormones as part of the Gender Identity Development Service for Children and Adolescents. The specific NHS proposal was NOT to lower the age from which treatment with cross-sex hormones may be given to adolescents with gender dysphoria, namely their 16th birthday plus or minus a month.
CMF supports their proposal and the consultation gave us an opportunity to comment more generally on the approach to, and management of gender dysphoria in adolescents.
