Submission to the 72nd Session of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

Published: 29th January 2019

Response to paragraph 19 of the List of Issues and Questions to the Eighth Periodic Report of the UK.

The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) Committee recommends that the law in Northern Ireland be changed to permit abortion on the basis of serious and fatal foetal abnormality.

In reply, CMF has submitted a response that highlights the way in which the current law protects fundamental freedoms and recommends it not be changed.
