Evangelistic Medical Missions Abroad (EMMA) - in conjunction with an American team.
When: July 30/31 - August 7, 2020
EMMA are pleased to announce that our next medical mission will take place in Kenya. Since 2010, we have worked both in East and West Africa, as well as in Asia. This invitation has come from Matt Murray, Senior Pastor of Renew Church, Uttoxeter and Global Director of One by One (mission organisation), requesting EMMA to provide a small medical team to work alongside a larger mixed American health team. Accommodation allows only for male UK doctors at this stage in proceedings
One by One works in several poorly resourced countries, including Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Kenya. The charity began when Pastor Murray was horrified by what he saw of child exploitation in Sierra Leone. Events led him to work in Bumala B, an extremely remote and poor village on the Kenyan side of Lake Victoria, between Kisumu and Busia and reached via a flight from Nairobi to Kisumu. Setting up the Kings Campus, which now includes a school, childrens' home and church, Matt regularly hosts medical mission teams as demand for free Christian medical care remains huge. The mission will be promoted in advance, which explains why on the previous mission, 3,050 patients were treated in just 5 days. The work was intense, but so worthwhile, with some patients having walked for hours to receive care
Camps are set up within the campus grounds, thus utilizing class rooms, the dining hall and church. Older children speak good English and being free in August, are able to act as translators. Clinics will run for 3 days, with spare time enabling village evangelism. Matt will also hire marquees, thus enabling the gospel to reach a wider audience
