Hope House is a Christian orphanage of 37 children and a school of 960 (at present).
Every January they organise a short term medical trip to provide medical checks for the children, as most do not have access to medical treatment. They need a minimum of 4 doctors and at least 1 more nurse.
Children are weighed and measured, given an eye test, have their feet washed and skin checked, then they are triaged by nurses or student doctors. A suitcase of medicine is available - mainly antibiotics. Every child is given worming tablets and vit A. It's quite a conveyor belt, but it's fun.
It is a self-financed trip and the dates are 19th January to 2 February. Flights are usually £600-£700 and £500 covers accommodation. People are also asked to fundraise for anyone needing referral to, eg, opticians, dentists, or hospital consultants.
