A CMF END OF LIFE DAY CONFERENCE
With Dr Peter Saunders
The pressure to legalise assisted suicide and euthanasia in the UK is relentless. And yet over ten attempts to change the law through British parliaments have failed in the last twelve years. Now well-resourced lobby groups have turned to the courts, the medical institutions and Britain's small islands in their unremitting campaign to establish a beachhead for legislative change.
Meanwhile, euthanasia by stealth is gaining a foothold through the practices of intentional morphine overdose, removal of food and fluid from non-dying patients and terminal sedation. In jurisdictions abroad we are seeing an expansion of categories of those to be included in the euthanasia net - disabled people, minors and those suffering from mental or chronic illness or dementia.
There is an unprecedented need for more advocates to defend vulnerable people at risk and to promote good palliative care and support for dying and disabled people.
This conference will bring you up to date with all the latest developments, review the arguments, look ahead to the coming challenges and inspire you to get involved in this crucial battle. Come and be informed and equipped.
Join us for a special day conference to delve into these concerns with CMF's chief executive Dr Peter Saunders (also the Campaign Director for the Care Not Killing Alliance) a leading national spokesperson on end of life issues.
Each talk will involve time for Q and A.
