Fishing the Net

As Nigel Williams remarked, the internet has become a prolific and easily accessible source of pornography. On the other hand, it can also provide resources to help combat this growing trend. There are now several software censors that will block sites on a 'prohibited' list maintained by the software company. An example is CyberPatrol, located at www.cyberpatrol.com. An alternative is www.filteruk.co.uk.

This is of limited use, however, to adults who have an addiction to pornography. There are several useful sites dealing with problems related to pornography - Cross Search provides useful links on the general topic of addiction, although several are now defunct.

One major problem with the internet is the sheer volume of information that is available. To help you find your way around there are many search engines such as Yahoo! and AltaVista . At these sites you can enter relevant keywords (eg euthanasia), and the site will then bring up a list of sites dealing with that subject. Even then, you can still be overwhelmed with thousands of possible sites.

If you are looking for specifically Christian views on a subject, try Goshen which also has topical news stories. For a more medical perspective, try the Medweb search engine
