She explores the complexunderlying causes and the consequencesof eating disorders onboth patients and their families. She identifies current issues withour mental health care system ina non-judgmental manner. Bywalking us through her ownexperience the reader is helpedto empathise with Elizabeth'ssuffering. She does not hide thehurt her actions caused othersbut helps you to understand whyshe behaved in the manner shedid. The book ends with twoshort essays by her parents. These will be particularly helpfulfor families supporting childrenwith mental illness. It hasenough detail to interest thoseof a medical background withoutalienating a non-medical reader. Her faith is subtly presentthroughout the book in a mannerthat will encourage Christians, but won't put off non-Christians.

Overall a short but powerfulread with useful insights for all ofus. You can't help but be inspiredby Elizabeth's courage and determinationto use her experiencesfor the good of others.
