Sarah’s CMF story
We wanted to share the story of how one of our members is making a difference and bringing change through her influence in the profession.
Sarah is a palliative medicine registrar in the East of England, and she is the Co-Chair of the Association of Palliative Medicine Trainees’ Committee.
She is also very active in leading a principled stand against the legalisation of assisted suicide and euthanasia in the UK.
She says:
‘I think one of the biggest challenges is trying to be true to Jesus, to be salt and light, and to be proud of being a Christian in a society that’s intolerant of Christianity.
Assisted suicide is a real threat to our patients. It’s probably also the biggest threat to how we function as doctors… I’m against it for lots of reasons that many people of all faiths and none can share, but I’m also clear that it is my Christian faith that drives me.’
Sarah has been very active on this issue, writing articles, speaking to the media, and appearing on podcasts. Her confidence comes from her unwavering faith in Jesus, the supportive community of Christian healthcarers she has been connected to through CMF, and being encouraged to use her voice, ‘CMF is bold enough to stand up, even though it might not be popular.’
Your support is crucial to enabling CMF to continue providing essential member services. Donations help fund pastoral care, training and resources, conferences, and local groups.
