Transitioning from a study to work, moving town or region, taking on clinical responsibilities, and choosing and training in a speciality can all be stressful, especially when this is often without the familiar support networks of friends, CU, or church. CMF helps you share the journey with others facing the same challenges and those who’ve been there and know what you’re going through.

Event Details
Come and join us for 4 nights in Criccieth, where the mountains meet the sea, to consider the needs in the world today, learn more about what the Bible teaches about mission and see what God is doing.
We’ll think about what it means to make disciples and how to demonstrate God’s love in practical action. There will be the opportunity to work through practical questions, learn from each other and think through how we could be involved now and in the future. There will be time for Bible study, prayer, praise, learning in groups, wild swimming, walks and personal reflection.
Who is it for?
Christian students and health care professionals and their spouses/partners wanting to learn more about mission and considering how they may get involved in the future.
Facilitators:
Organised by Christian Medical Fellowship’s Global team and joined by guests with a broad experience of cross-cultural mission work and medicine in different contexts.
Accommodation and things to do:
The Neptune is a beautifully positioned large house with sea views towards Snowdonia and across the Irish Sea. It overlooks a beach where you can swim, even in September (although you may prefer to bring a wetsuit!). See the Neptune self-catering guest house: www.theneptune.org.uk
There is plenty of B&B and self-catering accommodation available locally should you prefer that. Criccieth is a popular holiday destination with beaches, coffee shops, art galleries, an ice cream parlour and a castle. Within a short drive there is the Snowdonia National Park and opportunities for watersports.

Do you have questions about faith at work?
- Is talking about faith legitimate?
- Is it good medicine?
- Is it practical?
- Would I have time?
- How can I learn more?
The medical literature increasingly recognises the important link between spirituality and health. Yet many Christian health professionals feel frustrated by the challenge of integrating faith and practice within the time constraints and legal obligations of the workplace. GMC guidelines approve discussions of faith issues with patients provided it is done appropriately and sensitively.
Christians are called to be ‘the salt of the earth’ flavouring life with grace and truth. Saline Process is a one-day course designed to help Christian healthcare professionals become more comfortable addressing a person’s spiritual needs in a clinical context. There is a mixture of teaching and small group discussion.
The course will take place from 9:3am0 -5pm on Saturday, 3 October 2026, Portswood Church, Southampton. Refreshements will be served from 9:15am, with a prompt 09:30am start – refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
Your Saline trainer:
Laurence Crutchlow – GP and CMF Associate Head of Student Ministries.
Cost:
Doctors and dentists: £40
Foundation year doctors: £27
Nurses and midwives: £27
Allied health professionals: £27
Newly Qualified Nurses, Students and unwaged: £15
How to the Church
The main church building is on Portswood Road just south of the junction with Brookvale Road – opposite the Waitrose car park. Parking is unfortunately just for the training team/ anybody with accessibility needs but there is public parking on residential streets nearby or paid for car parks. There is a bus stop outside the church building on routes U1, U6 and First 3.

welcome scheme
Being a resident doctor can be lonely. Having to move with placements or a new job, presents multiple challenges, from finding a new home, to settling into a new workplace, getting to know new colleagues and new ‘local procedures’, to finding a welcoming church.
The CMF Welcome Scheme will put you in touch with a local Christian doctor to support you and help you settle in to your new area.
