Bex Lawton is a paediatric nurse and CMF’s Head of Nurses & Midwives.

What a joy it was to gather together for NAMfest to celebrate ten years of CMF Nurses and Midwives in April. May God be praised, ‘…thus far the Lord has helped us’. (1 Samuel 7:12) This year, instead of hearing from one main speaker, we heard mini-talks from seven individuals, as well as prayers, Scripture, and testimonies from others during our times of worship. To hear so many voices from across our fellowship was a rich feast. Someone remarked gratefully, ‘we had a buffet!’. Sampling the delights of God’s faithfulness to us in our individual work contexts, as well as to us corporately as a membership, was food for our souls.

In this edition of Spotlight, we continue to celebrate how God has grown us over the years. We are giving a flavour of the variety of nursing and midwifery roles we now represent across our community. There’s a smörgåsbord of articles for you here, from students through to retirees, community and hospital-based practitioners, as well as from writers in the UK and overseas. There’s lots to chew on and digest, with biblical teaching, devotions, testimonies, poetry, prayers, and even a recipe. We pray that as you tuck in, you’d ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good…’, as it says in Psalm 34:8.

So grab a quiet moment in the staff room or at home on your sofa, ‘Tie a napkin ‘round your neck, cherie’, and Bon Appetit!
