Many congratulations to our students who are graduating this year!
Beginning work can be daunting at the best of times, let alone with the challenges of this past year. CMF is keen to support you, not only during this period, but in what we hope will be a long career of service in medicine.
CMF is here to help you in a number of ways:
- Our Welcome Scheme puts you in touch with a more senior doctor in the hospital or town where you will be working. They can help with finding a church, linking with other Christian doctors locally, getting to know you over coffee or a meal, or meeting up to pray.
- The CMF pastoral care programme can also provide support, a listening ear and someone to pray with.
- The Junior Doctors Conference this year will be at Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire, 19-21 November (details to be confirmed). This is a great chance to meet up with over 100 other Christian juniors from all over the UK and Ireland.
- Check our webpage for more details of our Junior Doctors Committee’s many other activities.
- We would like to offer a free copy of the CMF book for juniors, Foundations (RRP £20). This is for all paid-up members of CMF who are graduating this summer, after they update their address details.
Staying connected
Please tell us your up to date contact details, and where you will be working. If you aren’t sure of your postal address yet, please indicate a permanent address (such as parents) where you can be contacted for now – and do ensure that you provide us with a non-university email address so we can keep in touch after graduation. You can do this in your iMIS account.
We know that not all the addresses and email addresses we hold are correct. So if you know other Christian medical students that are graduating this year, please remind them to update their details with us – or persuade them to join if they are not yet a member! We are also not able to email every member as some never opted into email communication when GDPR came into force.
Supporting and Resourcing
Though you might not think so now, you can also be a great support to others as a foundation year doctor. The CMF student group nearest to your hospital will no doubt have members in need of discipleship and support; more senior Christian doctors locally are often very enthused by a fresh and passionate junior doctor joining in local fellowship and serving students.
Surviving and thriving
We hope and pray that the transition from student to qualified doctor will be a great blessing to you and many others. Though some challenges are inevitable, we trust that God will use the coming months to draw you closer to Jesus. If we can be of any further help to you please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We thank God for your fellowship with us so far as a student.
