Description
Andrew Drain was a high-flying cardiothoracic surgical Fellow in a prestigious New York hospital, about to become a consultant in the UK, when in September 2007 he was diagnosed with the worst form of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Recovering with chemotherapy, he returned to Ireland to have a bone marrow transplant.
Initially seeming to be cured, he preached a series of sermons on the Bible’s book of Job. His own personal experiences illuminated his growing understanding of suffering.
His final relapse began in June 2009, and he found through Job that he could face death with confidence because ‘I know that my Redeemer lives’.
