        Event Details

Every Christian health professional has a unique opportunity to improve their patients’ physical and spiritual health, but many feel frustrated by the challenge of integrating faith and practice within time constraints and legal obligations.

However, the medical literature increasingly recognises the important link between spirituality and health and GMC guidelines approve discussion of faith issues with patients provided that it is done appropriately and sensitively.

Christians are called to be ‘the salt of the earth’. Saline Solution is a course designed to help Christian healthcare professionals bring Christ and his good news into their work. It has helped hundreds become more comfortable and adept at practising medicine that addresses the needs of the whole person.

We are delighted to announce that bookings are open for the first CMF Day Conference in Dublin. On Saturday 11 April we will be gathering at Grosvenor Baptist Church for a day helping Christian healthcare professionals bring Christ and his good news into their work.

We will be using the Saline course, which equips you to recognise opportunities to encourage colleagues and patients to take one step closer to God, sharing the gospel with sensitivity, respect, and genuine care.

All healthcare professionals are welcome. There will also be plenty of time to connect with others who share your heart for Christ and healthcare in Ireland. We’d love to see you there!

Bookings close at 12pm on Tuesday, 7 April 2026

Dressed in Christ, ready for work

        Thursday 7 – Friday 8 May 2026,

Yarnfield Park Training & Conference Centre, Staffordshire, ST15 0NL

It’s seven o’clock, so it’s time to get changed. He pulls his lanyard over his head, unpins his name badge and stuffs them both in his rucksack as he heads home. She ties up the drawstrings of her scrub trousers and slips on her Crocs before heading onto the ward for handover. These are their end and beginning rituals, of putting off and putting on.

The apostle Paul encouraged Christians in the early church to change their attire, too. He instructed them to doff their old self, and their former way of life, and to don their ‘…new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness’. (Ephesians 4 :24b)

What impact would it have if we stepped into Christ’s changing room and took off old garments that weigh heavily and hinder us? Could we see a shift change in toxic workplace cultures, too, as we clothe ourselves distinctly in his love? As we gather together at NAMfest, we’ll be asking God for changeover. May he renew our minds and break through in our workplaces.

        Cost:

£95 for full NAMfest (£75 for students)

£45 for a Friday day ticket only; includes lunch

The track is designed for medics, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals who are exploring or preparing for work in global health and mission.

We especially welcome students in the final three years of their course, as well as graduates in the early stages of their careers, as the programme is structured to fit comfortably alongside ongoing studies, placements or work commitments.

This will be our sixth cohort, building on years of experience delivering the programme.

        What’s Included
        • Residential & In‑Person Training: An introductory weekend residential with teaching, five Saturday training days at CMF HQ led by global health mission speakers, and a cross‑cultural training day in the UK.
        • Online Learning: Four two‑hour Wednesday evening webinars, and two assignments to help you reflect and apply your learning.
        • CMF Global Summer Mission Conference: Your place includes conference access with lectures, practical skills sessions, and workshops on healthcare in resource‑poor settings.
        • Mentoring: You’ll be paired with a mentor experienced in overseas missions for personalised support throughout the programme.
        • Vision Trip: Join one of three short‑term mission vision trips. If you can’t make these dates, we can consider your elective or another short-term mission trip instead.
        Course Fee

        £500

Please note that this fee doesn’t include your travel, accommodation or extra days at the Global Summer Mission Conference, or the costs connected with your vision trip.
We can provide a support letter if you’d like to invite prayer or financial support from your church, family, or friends.

        How to Apply
Applications for the Global Track are now open, and close on Monday 30 March at 5:00 PM BST.

Moral flip-flopping over doctors and the death penalty

April 17, 2023/in Blog, End of Life Trevor Stammers

I have long argued that ethicists who advocate euthanasia while at the same time being opposed to capital punishment have a morally untenable position and recent events have once again demonstrated why if you think it is wrong for doctors to administer death as a punishment, it is logically inconsistent to agree that they can […]

‘Because you’re worth it?’ The BMA and the junior doctors’ strikes

April 12, 2023/in Blog, Medical Practice, NHS Mark Pickering

Easter 2023 is likely to be remembered for a long time in the NHS. Straight after a four-day bank holiday weekend, with many senior doctors already on leave, the BMA called junior doctor members in England out on a 96-hour total strike, without exempting emergency cover other than for major incidents. Their aim? A 35 […]

‘Of Mice and Men’

April 3, 2023/in Blog, New Technologies Trevor Stammers

The Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing in 2018 really hit the headlines when Prof He Janjkui announced he had carried out heritable genome editing of twin girls in China to make them more resistant to HIV infection. In contrast, the Third International Summit in London in early March 2023 got far less press […]

When is a baby not a baby?

March 6, 2023/in Blog, Start of Life Jennie Pollock

Last week Panorama ran an ‘investigation’ into pregnancy advice centres which they claimed give misleading information to pregnant women. They found 57 centres listed online, could find no fault with the advice given by 34 of them and sent an undercover journalist in to investigate three. The programme was, as is typical, biased and unbalanced. […]

Neuro-silicon interfaces: a new mode of being?

February 13, 2023/in Blog, Humanity, New Technologies Trevor Stammers

The idea of humankind being merely machines has a long history, stretching back to Julien Offrey De La Mettrie’s Man a Machine, published in 1747. The ‘man-machine’ of the 18th century was, of course, a clockwork automaton. It was not until 1945 that Norbert Weiner, in his ground-breaking Cybernetics – Or Control and Communication in […]

Desperate for organs

February 9, 2023/in Blog, Global Health and Mission, Humanity, Medical Practice Trevor Stammers

‘What can a man give in return for his life?’ asks Jesus rhetorically of his disciples and the crowds following him (Mark 8:37, RSV). In doing so, he implicitly acknowledges that people will go to almost any lengths to save their own skins. They will also do the same for those they love. If the […]

I’m a Christian working in the NHS. The system is broken. Here’s how you can pray for us

January 9, 2023/in Blog, Christianity, Medical Practice, Society Guest

I’ve just got home from a shift in the emergency department (ED). The hospital is in ‘critical incident’ due to overcrowding, but it’s been like this for weeks. 100 people or more in a department designed for 25. Queues of ambulances are unable to offload for hours because there’s no space. Patients who have had […]

Podbabies: Who are they kidding?

December 14, 2022/in Blog, New Technologies, Start of Life Trevor Stammers

Ectogenesis – the gestation of children in artificial wombs – has long been considered by many feminist writers as the ultimate liberation for women from the tyranny of reproduction and the limitations it imposes on women’s autonomy. It has also been said to be necessary to ‘challenge traditional patriarchal family structures, and thence all other […]

An appreciation of Sir Eldryd Parry 1931-2022

December 5, 2022/in Blog, Christianity, Global Health and Mission Guest

Sir Eldryd Hugh Owen Parry KCMG OBE, a CMF member, died aged 91 on 13 November 2022. I wanted to write a brief appreciation of his extraordinary life of service in universities in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Ghana and the establishment of the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET). His numerous achievements and awards are recorded […]

Canada’s home MAiD disaster?

November 25, 2022/in Blog, End of Life, Medical Practice Trevor Stammers

My first recollection of the impact legalised euthanasia and assisted suicide would have – for that is what Medical Assistance in Dying (the innocent-sounding MAiD) is – was at a conference in Paris. An Ontarian ethicist enthusiastically explained to us how, among other preparatory measures for MAiD, all the mannequins in the resuscitation training rooms […]

Celebrating two Black British nursing pioneers

October 20, 2022/in Blog, Nursing Guest

To mark Black History Month, we wanted to tell the story of two prominent Black nurses from British history, Mary Seacole and Chief Kofoworola Abeni Pratt. Both faced prejudice but battled through to gain recognition for their work. Their stories are a reminder that Black nurses have been making a significant contribution to the profession […]

Acting with a clear conscience? WMA, GMC, BMA, and moral injury

October 17, 2022/in Blog, Christianity, End of Life, Gender Identity, Medical Practice, Start of Life Mark Pickering

Having reasonable freedom to act in accordance with our conscience is something that Christian healthcarers rightly value. A number of recent events and reviews over the last year or so highlight some of the perennial vulnerabilities of conscience provision but also some reasons for hope and optimism. WMA International Code of Medical Ethics The World […]
