Reform of the complex Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) has been long awaited and is much appreciated. The decision to merge the LPS guidance into the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) Code we also commend and trust that the new LPS scheme will truly reflect the principles of the MCA as a result.
