ss CMF news - summer 2003, Appointments and Departures

Appointments and Departures

New Appointments

WAITING SO was appointed in April as a full time administrative assistant with responsibilities in the area of publications. Ting previously worked as a credit risk analyst in London. Originally from Hong Kong, he worships at the Chinese Church in London where he runs the tape library in the English congregation. He is a keen racquet sports player. Ting may well answer the phone when you ring the office, or put your book order together.

RICHARD KNOX has been appointed as West Midlands Relay Worker for twelve months part-time from August 2003. Richard graduated MBChB from Birmingham in July 2001 and will be supporting students and junior doctors in Birmingham and Warwick whilst taking part in UCCF’s Relay training programme. Alongside he will continue working parttime in the NHS.

Please remember Ting and Richard in prayer as they take up their new responsibilities.

New Arrivals

CHRIS SUMMERTON is the new chairman of CMF. Chris is a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Manchester and brings to the post a passion for integrating spirituality and health.

BRIAN HOGBIN is the new CMF President. Brian is a retired General Surgeon in Shropshire, and formerly CMF Treasurer.

Bristol Geriatrician MARK CHEESMAN is chairman elect.

Sheffield Emeritus Professor of Surgery ALAN JOHNSON is president elect.

Departures

This month we sadly say goodbye to one Executive Chairman, one CMF President and two student Staffworkers.

Farnborough GP LIZ WALKER has completed two years as CMF Chairman during an exciting time of change, during which she oversaw the introduction of the new constitution which has prepared the way ahead.

Liverpool Retired Paediatric Surgeon RICHARD COOK finishes three years as CMF President.

General Surgeon TIM LEWIS has been CMF Irish Staffworker for two years and has now taken up an appointment with the Leprosy Mission in Nepal along with his wife Julie, a paediatrician.

RUTH SELWOOD has been South-West Staffworker for two years and Midlands Staffworker for one year. She returns to full time general practice training this August. Both Tim and Ruth have made a huge contribution to CMF’s ministry amongst students and will be greatly missed.

At present we have no replacements for them so please do pray that God will raise up successors and do pray for them also as they make the transition back to full time medicine. Thank you Tim and Ruth.
