Ethics

Key Current Issues for Prayer

  • That the Diane Pretty case currently under judicial review would not result in a slippery slope towards the legalisation of euthanasia
  • That the General Medical Council would make wise decisions in drafting its final guidelines on Withdrawal of Treatment Decisions (see below)
  • That the Prolife Alliance would be successful in its High Court Appeal to reverse the government decision on therapeutic cloning (expected end of October)
  • That the FPA's judicial review on abortion practice in Northern Ireland will not result in more abortions

CMF Ethics Submissions

CMF has made an official submission to the General Medical Council's consultation on Withdrawal of Treatment Decisions which is available on the CMF website. Our submission on Genes and Behaviour to the Nuffield Council of Bioethics is available online. Both consultations closed on 31 July but neither has yet reported its findings.
