developing health course - About DHC

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have cancelled the 2020 residential event. We will however be holding 'Developing Health Course - For such a time as this', a 2 day online teaching event via zoom aiming to:

1. Respond to the current and changing clinical responses and challenges of COVID, especially in low- and middle-income countries

2. Model 'taster' days of the style and approach of the Developing Health Course and teaching team

3. Integrate a Christian perspective and holistic approach to both hospital and community responses amidst a crisis

DHC is a two-week residential course run by CMF every summer. The course is designed to update, equip and inspire doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who are committed to global health.

Usually this course emphasises the broader context of healthcare across the world and each day covers topics such as global health, mental health, paediatrics, acute care or women's health. There are also sessions on problem solving in areas such as HIV, palliative care, managing an epidemic and emergency medicine.

The course is run by Christian Medical Fellowship but participants of other faiths or no faith are welcomed.

Every year one evening is dedicated to a 'Mission Fair', where organisations such as SIM, CMS, Interserve, Medair, AIM, Mercy Ships, and others exhibit their medical service opportunities across the globe. This fair is an open event for any healthcare professional interested to know more about these agencies.

Save the dates for next year: 4-16 July 2021, London School of Theology, Northwood.
